‘Where do I get photographic props for the studio?’ is a question that a lot of my clients ask. Most recently with the introduction of the Baby Steps packages, I’ve been using a lot of props for babies. Props include not only buckets and baskets but clothing. A lot of the props are found items or homemade.
Home knits are perfect especially at this time of year, and a big thank you goes to @Pictfamily for getting her needles out, giving me advice and guidance and making the start to the range of little bonnets and cosy hats in my dress-up basket. She has inspired me to pick up my needles now and I’m amazed at what I can produce. It’s wonderful to produce images knowing that I made that, sourced that, created that, although the babies I can take no credit for!
The props that are used during a shoot such as the tin bath, suitcases, baskets are all sourced either in local shops or are items that I have inherited from my Grandparents. At times I have throwing out sessions at home, but it goes to show that classic, well-made items are worth keeping – someone please tell my husband, or the loft will be emptied into a skip very soon! Baby photographic props come in all shapes and sizes!
