This weekend was a welcome break from the usual to the Yorkshire Dales.
It involved a wonderful day and a half’s break from the norm and a much needed lungful of fresh air. We took a trip on the Settle to Carlisle Railway, a journey I have wanted to take ever since I met a girl at University that came from Carlisle and was campaigning to keep it open. And now I have, and a beautiful journey it was. No photos as the scenery went too fast, but I did manage a few at the stations, where we were graced with a steam train. Just can’t get away from them!
Then after a comfortable night in a local tavern, we set off to the Ingleton trail of Waterfalls. It was spectacular even though it was very overcast and drizzling. I tried to take photographs but with the lack of a trip-pod ( I refused to trail one around the 5mile strenuous route.) and the weather conditions my images just don’t do it justice. Afterwards we travelled to Settle via Ribbledale and caught a glimpse of the Ribblehead viaduct in the clouds. Still fantastically spectacualar. Seconds after I took these images the clouds came down and ‘puff ‘ it was gone. A cone full of chips in Settle was a welcome end to our trip.
