|Last night saw the launch of the Woodend Artists Winter Exhibition at the Riverside Cafe in Uppermill. It was truly a magical affair with’Tim Burtonesque’ creatures mingling, food and drink flowed as did chatter amongst the Artists and visitors. The occasion started with a photoshoot and greetings from both the Woodend Artists and Carolyn, Hostess of the Riverside Cafe. The two were flanked by two of No-Eyed Theatre’s creations, standing to attention like two attending soldiers in amongst a candle lit garden, with a canopy of stars. The evening continued with introductions and chatter. Simon Carrigan, AKA Es, then produced a pair of designed lady’s shoes – ‘Cupcake-orella’ – the lady to whose feet they fit, may put their name into a raffle and win them. This is continuing all throughout he exhibition’s duration. Last night only 1 lady’s feet actually fitted the shoes – one gentleman also tried his luck with them but found them sadly too small. The work on show is work from 10 Artists and includes ceramics, photography, model making and painting using a variety of media. The exhibition began last night and now runs until the 28th December, during opening hours. More details can be found on the Woodend Artists website.
