Hello and welcome to Jenny and Jay’s online gallery of images taken pre- Wedding photography. These photographs were taken at the Jude Gidney Photography studio and then hand edited individually. Please enjoy them ( and Jenny and Jay, if you’d like larger versions they are available for a small cost on request – contact Jude. ) I look forward to your big day and shooting your Wedding Photographs!
I recently was asked to photograph a Wedding at the Huntsman Inn, Holmfirth, the ceremony at Friezland Church. The day started off with rain bucketing down, and me starting to photograph at the church. Concerns were for my equipment getting wet, but these were unfounded after years of practice, and the use of a very large umbrella left in the porch of the church.
The bride arrived in a ribboned cream Beetle with a smiling chauffeur. She ran to the church protecting her flowing chiffon dress from the rain with a delicate ivory umbrella.
Once the ceremony was over, we ventured outside to clearing skies, which allowed for some group photographs on the steps of the church.
Once at the Huntsman Inn I continued to take photographs of people simply enjoying themselves and then asked the ‘top’ usher to help me gather people for a handful more group images, as requested by the couple, and then one large group of all the guests.
I continued to take photographs of details in the Wedding breakfast room, of the children having a whale of a time skidding and playing with balloons on the dance floor, and then proceeded to photograph the speeches.
I was struck especially with the lighting in the Huntsman Inn, having photographed here a number of times before, I did remember the large picture window that the bride and groom were seated at during their meal and the wonderful natural light and shade it offers, but I really appreciated it this time. It really added strength and clarity to the images, a quality that was very much reflected in the bride and how she organised the occasion and held herself on the day.
White Hart Inn Wedding Photography – a place I’ve been photographing Weddings at for years!
The White Hart Inn has featured highly in my Wedding Photography so far this year with photographing two Weddings there already, another in the next month and handing over the most beautiful album of images at the weekend of a Wedding last year at the White Hart.
It’s a great venue for a Wedding, with the architecture designed to allow for lots of natural light to flood in but with darker areas to add some intrigue. The gardens are tended and kept in bloom to add that extra colour to the venue, and great backdrop to group photos and to the front of the Inn, views over Oldham, with rolling green fields in the foreground there’s lots to play with to get those all important romantic photographs.
With 11 years of providing a service, clients come back time and time again, and my main clientele are from word of mouth.

A splendid Chadderton Town Hall Wedding in Oldham.
Sometimes couples just want a quiet Wedding, and a small celebration including just the family. Chadderton Town Hall is an ideal venue for this, with the sweeping staircase and beautiful lighting offered by the large windows and darker interior. Chadderton Town Hall was looking resplendent with daffodils and bulbs in the spring. The pillars outside also make for an interesting backdrop for group photographs.

Here are a few images from a recent wedding at the White Hart Inn in Lydgate, Saddleworth. The groom arrived at the White Hart in a Vintage Porche which he pulled up in to show me then disappeared off to roar around Saddleworth before the ceremony. The bride arrived in a vintage Rolls Royce looking gorgeous in ivory with cascades of soft vintage pastel flowers. The wedding ceremony took place in the Library upstairs in the White Hart, with the evening wedding reception in the Oak room. Although the weather was cold and dull, we managed to get out for some stunning images with landscape behind looking over the hills towards Oldham. It really is the perfect location for a wedding.

Recently had a debate about the differences in quality of images between phones and SLR cameras made me think that I’d never actually compared the two – just was aware of the difference in quality. So I thought this morning I’d have a look .
I decided to photograph flowers on the windowsill, using just available light. The phone is an Iphone 3, camera Nikon D7000 using a 18-200mm Nikon lens f3.5-5.6 .
The resulting photos – admittedly all reduced to less than 650×650 pixels for web viewing ( but that’s a constant) Images need to be clicked on to see full size :
The real test is looking up close at the images – as to how they will appear when printed at a reasonable size – 8×6″ plus. I have cropped in on both images for both appliances. These are the results of cropping in PS. Again the resultant crop can be seen on clicking each image – which I strongly recommend you do to see the full difference.
At Weddings I regularly come across guests taking the same image as myself, after I have arranged all the guests in an expert manner, and the image is caught for them on a phone or compact camera – which they seem happy with as the images are rarely bought from my site, as I hasten to say, are available at a very reasonable prices. I know what I’d prefer for my next wedding 😉
Plus, I’m not even going to go into what my camera can do in the studio in comparison to the IPhone or on location with a handful of filters!!
